Paul Holmbeck '83, has led a fundraising campaign to encourage other alumni to support neighborhood partners such as the Durham Community Land Trust and Partners for Youth. Duke is matching donations raised by Holmbeck.

"I'd been following what Duke was doing with the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership and I could see the positive steps it was taking," he says. "Community outreach is clearly seen as part of the mission now, as an obligation. Duke's playing a constructive role in the neighborhoods around it."

Duke students often develop such strong ties to Durham that they make their homes here or in the Triangle Region after graduation. Getting involved in the Neighborhood Partnership is a great way to keep strong ties with Duke and to help your community.
